I think it makes sense for Adam to return, especially when the truth about Christian's paternity comes out.  It would be even more dramatic with Adam around! 

BTW, I also think the show should consider recasting the role.  All 3 actors who have played Adam as an adult have done terrific jobs, so I'm sure the magic could be re-created with yet another actor if necessary.
