From the November 26, 2018 issue of CBS Soaps In Depth (p. 44):
Actor's Studio
Beth Maitland has been popping into Y&R for 30-plus years as her alter ego, Traci. During that time, has she ever disagreed with the direction the powers that be might have wanted to take her character? "There is a challenge for any actor to say a line that you might not be comfortable with or play a part that you are not committed to," acknowledges the soap vet. "But my job as an actor is to make that work--for myself, for the fans, for the story." In fact, Maitland says that her main focus is on breathing life into the character. "A lot of actors want to be involved in the development of their stories, but it's none of my business," she insists. "In my personal job description, I show up and say my lines. I don't change my lines or rewrite the story. If I'm not comfortable with a part, I don't take the job!"
