From the May 13, 2019 issue of CBS Soaps In Depth (pp. 28-31):

May Sweeps Preview

Genoa City denizens will need to brace themselves for the month of May, because it's gonna be a roller-coaster ride!  Soaps In Depth went right to the source of the mayhem, headwriter Josh Griffith, to get the scoop!

Nick's Worst Nightmare!
Nick married Sharon when they were still college sweethearts and, after their divorce, has been in a steady string of relationships.  With his love life having collapsed, thanks to Phyllis' perfidy, the hunk might be making up for lost time on the dating scene!  "Nick will do his best to embrace 'single life' with some interesting interactions," says Griffith.

Yet Nick's biggest challenge won't be deciding who to spend his nights with.  "Nick's world will turn upside-down when his worst nightmare comes true," warns the scribe, "and he'll need to fight for everything that's important to him!"

Is Adam Really Back?
"Is the real 'Adam' alive?  Where has he been?" asks Griffith.  "The prodigal son returns home... or does he?  When it comes to Adam Newman, one thing you can count on is lots of questions and high-stakes drama for everyone around him!"

Meanwhile, Victor "is keeping a secret that will rock Genoa City to its core!" declares the writer.  "Family means everything to Victor.  He will make a decision to strengthen his legacy, but it may end up backfiring with dangerous results for the Newmans!"

Risky Business
Now that Victoria is emotionally back on track, no one should make the mistake of thinking her life is going to run smoothly!  "Victoria has been enjoying success at Newman without interference from Nick or Abby.  [But] her moment in the spotlight will be short-lived when her position there is threatened," previews Griffith.  "This will lead Victoria to show everyone that she is indeed Victor Newman's daughter!"

Across town at Jabot, "Jack and Ashley's sibling rivalry is stronger than ever despite her being in Paris," says the wordsmith.  "The siblings will continue to vie for the top spot with their business ventures."

On the personal front, "Jack is ready to bounce back after the Kerry/Dominique fiasco and will start to see someone he shares a history with in a new light!"

Letting Go and Moving On?
"Cane and Traci's... unexpected friendship [will continue to deepen] as he leans on her as he struggles with life without Lily," reveals Griffith, adding that the audience will be "treated to appearances by Lily but not as they suspect..."

Meanwhile, poor Devon will find himself once again struggling emotionally.  "He will face great difficulty coping with Neil's death so soon after losing Hilary and their unborn child" previews Griffith.  "He will question if he is ready to move on romantically, [having been] drawn to Elena, who is a comforting presence in his life."

Lola Vs. Summer
Kyle continues to be attracted to Lola and Summer for very different reasons.  At the moment, Lola seems to  have the upper hand, but "Summer will not go down without a fight and pulls out all the stops to prove to Kyle that she is a far better match for him than Lola!" says Griffith.

Of course, it won't help Lola when she "will be distracted by her new position [as chef] at Society," Griffith acknowledges.  "And she also needs to keep her guard up if she wants to protect her future relationship with Kyle."

Lola won't be the only one distracted.  Abby may be throwing herself into work, determined that Society will "succeed on its own without any help from her two powerful families, [but she] will have a tough time resisting the charms of one of Genoa City's most eligible bachelors, Nate Hastings!"

Is Phyllis Ready For A Comeback?
Phyllis may have been ousted from Jabot and may be on the outs with pretty much everyone in Genoa City, but the business venture she recently launched "will remind Genoa City that it's never a good idea to underestimate Phyllis Summers!" declares Griffith.

Across town, Mariah continues to be fully supportive of Tessa's return to music.  Maybe too supportive, since she'll be "butting heads with Ana, who feels Mariah is too involved in Tessa's career!"

Sharon's Romance Woes
"Sharon and Rey will try to move forward as a couple, despite interference from Mia," says Griffith.  "But they will uncover a secret that may jeopardize their newfound happiness!"

At the same time, the paternity of Mia's baby will be revealed "and complicate matters even further for the Rosales family!"
