2021--NOT-a-New-Year’s-Eve!
January 5, 2022
Sally Spectra’s NOT-A-New-Year’s-celebration seemed to apply to the whole stinkin’ show this year! While we understand that Covid protocols limited the party scene, did the protocols have to also limit the imagination of the writers of Y&R?
We saw Sharon and Rey drink orange juice and eat year-old freezer cake which tasted like……the freezer! Earlier in this scene, did you all notice Sharon’s giant, pursed lips? She looked like Betty Boop! I don’t know if this was strange makeup for the NOT-A-New-Year’s-Eve, or did Sharon have an allergic reaction to the orange juice?!
Anyway, there were only three customers total in Society, on NEW YEAR’S EVE! Crazy Chelsea had just been rejected by Adam, and for some strange reason Rey is always nice to Chelsea; never mind the fact that she poisoned him! Here was the perfect opportunity for the beginning of a Chelsea/Rey/Sharon triangle. Not happening. Chelsea was the proper lady which we all know she is not! A rebound effort to charm Rey was totally missed! Let Chelsea cry on Rey’s shoulder, and we would have seen a reason for Sharon’s giant, pursed lips!!!
Then there was the Grand Phoenix NOT-A-New-Year-party. Only two people were there which must have made it quite the money-maker. We saw Amanda of the sore feet and Devon desperately spouting out compliments to make up for loving Dom more than her!
Abby and Chance had take-out food and a NOT-A-Happy-New-Year-discussion. Chance, the hero, came home to a gorgeous, powerhouse wife and a beautiful baby boy; and he doesn’t know if he wants them! Well, don’t worry, Chance. Devon will be happy to take those two off your hands! (Sorry, Amanda!)
While Sally Spectra’s NOT-A-New-Year’s-celebration was a little wacky and a little tacky, the chemistry between her and Adam was off the charts! Sally is totally into Adam, but Adam has now been turned into a stuffed shirt! No fireworks were allowed; but of course, this was the 2021--NOT-A-New-Year’s-Eve-party.
