Peanut Gallery

Thank you to Rose... this month's guest columnist!

Victor and Sabrina

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hottest topic in Genoa City lately has been Victor romancing and marrying the pregnant Sabrina.  Whether you love or hate this storyline, Victor and Sabrina have a larger-than-life presence whenever they appear together.  The couple appears tall, dark, striking, self-confident to the point they steal the show in scene after scene.

This marriage shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.  Victor is a womanizer who never stays alone for long.  Victor is also rich which certainly is an asset when he romances any woman.  Whether she admits it or not, Sabrina is more than thrilled with Victor’s riches.  This was evident from the beginning when Sabrina admired the “Newman baronial mansion."

This story was bound to be controversial since Victor fell for his daughter's best friend.  What is Victoria supposed to call Sabrina now--mommy?!  The biggest problem of all is Sabrina's pregnancy.  Long-time fans remember Victor's vasectomies.  (#1 & 2!)  We remember when Nikki longed for another child.  We can't help but remember the never-ending storyline of Ashley using Victor's frozen sperm deposit to father her child, Abby.  That's right--there was no fresh stuff available!

The Victor Newman we all know and love has always performed like a well-oiled machine, meeting challenges head on!  The real Victor would never ignore the fact that he had a vasectomy.  He might tell Sabrina he’ll play father to her child, or he might explode in a towering rage since the child is not his.  Either way, the real Victor would be in Sabrina’s face demanding an explanation.  Acting by Victor and Sabrina—excellent!  Writing of the pregnancy storyline—flawed, so flawed.
