From the June 14, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Weekly (p. 16):

Phyllis's Outrageous Move!

Daniel, Billy, and Victoria form a united front with Rafe and face a judge about Lucy's future.  When Rafe explains that Daniel wants to sign over his parental rights to Billy and Victoria, the judge first asks if there is anyone from either family who objects.  Daniel's hesitation indicates that there may be opposition.  But before Daniel can explain, Kevin shows up, identifies himself as Lucy's uncle and asks to speak.  Billy and Victoria tense up, since they have no idea what Kevin is going to say.  Fortunately, he testifies that it's best that Lucy be adopted by the Abbotts.  The judge then calls a recess to consider her decision.

Meanwhile, Phyllis is so determined to thwart her granddaughter's adoption that she wants to persuade Daisy, who has slipped into Genoa City and is staying at Phyllis's penthouse, to help.  "I'm okay with Phyllis's motivation," declares her portrayer, Michelle Stafford.  "She's really doing this for her son.  She does not believe that Daniel is making the right decision based on his actions.  He cares so much for this kid and where she's going.  She truly believes in fighting for his kid on her own and that Daniel will thank her later.  Phyllis will do whatever she has to do for her son."

Phyllis kicks her plan into action by telling Daisy that all of her parental rights were terminated.  Daisy walks right into Phyllis's trap and gets riled up.  "Phyllis is saying that because she knows Daisy feels more badly about being usurped than about not having the kid," Stafford points out.  "So Phyllis talks Daisy into coming to court with her."

At the hearing, the judge returns and greenlights Billy and Victoria's adoption of Lucy.  However, their joy doesn't last for very long when Phyllis barges in with Daisy and Leslie.  "Phyllis is feeling really good about herself," says Stafford.  She walks in and says, 'I've got the biological mother.'  Everyone is surprised that Daisy is back in town.  Michael and Lauren are there, so Lauren is just freaking out."

Phyllis informs the court that Daisy not only wants to have her parental rights reinstated, but also give visitation to Phyllis.  After Billy and Victoria hastily leave with Lucy, Lauren blasts Phyllis for betraying her, while Daisy claims she wants to pay for the crimes that her demented Aunt Sarah forced her to commit.  "Lauren goes to attack Daisy, so Michael pulls her back," sighs Stafford.  "It gets ugly."

From the June 14, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Digest (p. eight):

Y&R's Phyllis Teams Up With Daisy

While Daniel is explaining to a judge why he wants to sign his parental rights to Lucy over to Billy and Victoria, Phyllis welcomes Daisy into her penthouse.  "Phyllis is doing this for her son," asserts Michelle Stafford (Phyllis).  "She does not believe Daniel is making the right decision based on his actions.  He cares too much about where this kid is going.  He's saying all the right things, but she doesn't buy it, so she truly believes in fighting for this kid on her own and that Daniel will thank her later.  All the rest, like bringing Daisy in, pales.  Phyllis will do whatever she has to do for her son.  Any mother can understand that you would do anything for your child."

To get her way, Phyllis is willing to make a deal with the devil.  "She knows Daisy's a criminal, but Phyllis doesn't care," says Stafford.  "Phyllis is using Daisy to get what she wants.  Phyllis is like, 'I'm smarter than you.'  That's the part of Phyllis that I like.  She knows she's very intelligent.  Yeah, she gets emotional when it has to do with love, but with everything else, she's very intelligent."

Phyllis starts pushing Daisy's buttons by revealing that her parental rights have been terminated.  Explains Stafford, "Phyllis is saying that because she knows Daisy will feel more badly about being usurped than about not having the kid.  Phyllis then talks Daisy into coming to court with her."

Back at the courthouse, Billy and Victoria are thrilled when the judge approves their adoption of Lucy.  Lauren shows up and is also relieved to hear the news, but everyone's joy is crushed when Phyllis and Leslie enter the courtroom--with Daisy.  "They're all pretty shocked that Daisy is in town," notes Stafford.  "Lauren is just freaking out."

The outrage reaches a fever pitch when Phyllis announces that Daisy wants to reinstate her parental rights as well as petition the court to grant Phyllis visitation rights.  Daniel warns Daisy that she'll end up behind bars just as soon as his mother gets her hands on Lucy.  "Phyllis is going to discard Daisy after it's all over," confirms Stafford.  "Besides, Phyllis feels, 'Nobody has been able to catch Daisy.  She was out there and loose and look what I did. I got her and reeled her in.'  This is going to get very interesting."
