From the September 13, 2011 issue of Soap Opera Digest (p. 6):

The Search For Y&R's Billy

After impulsively hitting the sheets with Ronan, Chloe comes home to find out that a seriously ill Delia was taken to the hospital.  "She thought Delia just had a cold or a flu-like type of thing, but now there's something terribly wrong," sighs Chloe's portrayer, Elizabeth Hendrickson.  "Chloe is just panic-stricken and rushes to the hospital."

There, she encounters Jill, who reports that Delia is undergoing tests.  "Now, it's this waiting game and it just drives Chloe crazy," says Hendrickson.  "All she wants to do is see her daughter and hold her."

Jill then asks why Chloe was missing in action.  "Jill doesn't have any attitude and isn't jumping all over Chloe," points out Hendrickson.  "Jill is just very worried about her granddaughter and is curious about where Chloe has been because she is always with Delia.  Of course, Chloe doesn't want to say that she was busy getting naked with Ronan."

Right on cue, Ronan unexpectedly arrives at the hospital and tries reaching out to Chloe, but she's far from receptive.  "She can't believe that he would have the audacity to come, because he never really got to know Delia," notes Hendrickson.  "Right now, Chloe can only blame him for keeping her away when Delia needed her.  Of course, Chloe only has herself to blame, but it's easier to blame someone else.  So, she's really angry with him and pushes him away."

After Ronan leaves, concerned friends and loved ones show up to offer Delia's family emotional support.  The doctor finally emerges with a shocking diagnosis:  Delia has acute myelogenous leukemia.  "Chloe is just devastated," explains Hendrickson.  "It's the worst news a mother can hear.  She's beyond feeling guilty.  She's beating herself up for not being there when Delia got sick.  The fact that Billy isn't around is that much more pressure for Chloe.  She doesn't want Delia to feel abandoned.  And if anyone understands what it feels like to be abandoned, it's Chloe."

Delia needs a life-saving bone marrow transplant and everyone is ready to be tested.  "Time is running out, so a donor needs to be found as soon as possible," says Hendrickson.  "Of course, Billy should come home right away, not only because he might be a match, but he needs to be with Delia."

Enter Victoria, who vows to find Billy and bring him to his daughter.
