From the February 24, 2009 issue of Soap Opera Weekly (p. 4):

Oh, Baby!  Billy Hooks Up With Sharon

That's right--Billy delivers Chloe's baby, hits the bottle and ends up with Sharon, all this week.

"Billy does his best thinking at a bar," chuckles Billy Miller (Billy). "And he's always finding trouble."

Indeed.  The left-field hookup with his big brother's ex is set in motion after Billy tells Chloe he knows he's the father of her baby, and he's forced to deliver their child at a snowbound cabin.  "There's no more hiding here," says Miller.  "Everything comes out."

Chloe fumes at Billy through her contractions, while Lily, who's on the phone getting delivery instructions from Olivia, relays them to Billy via a walkie-talkie.  "This is not Billy's favorite activity with a woman," admits Miller.  "But he steps up when he has to, and this is one of those moments.  Billy has the ability to take care of business and become a man of action when he has to, [but] Billy would rather go get a drink and meet a girl.  And that's what he does."

But first he helps Chloe through childbirth, reassuring her every step of the way.  "Billy just matter-of-factly says, 'Everything is going to be okay,' " recounts Miller.  "He's as tender as he can be.  He's not going to let anything happen to his kid."

Cane arrives and declares his love to Lily, just as Billy announces Chloe finally has given birth.  "The realization that Billy's a father and all the implications apply here," explains Miller, noting that Billy's "frightened, confused, not knowing what to do.  He's holding his baby; then he promptly has to hand it off to Cane, who's convinced it's his."

Meanwhile, Chloe's not faring well.  "She's bleeding, and they know they have to get her to the hospital," says  Miller.  "Billy and Cane carry Chloe to a toboggan, to get her down the hill to an ambulance."

Later, at the hospital, a doctor explains Chloe has septicemia, a condition that could kill her.  Things intensify for Billy when Lily finally unloads on him about all his lies.  "It's his just desserts, and Billy realizes it," admits Miller, adding that Lily presses Billy to tell Cane the truth about the baby or she'll do it herself.  "Billy doesn't know what he wants or what the right move is now that the whole scenario has changed."

So he leaves to get drunk and forget his troubles.  But Jack arrives and tries to talk Billy out of walking away from his child, "because he has made the mistake of not raising his kid," notes Miller.  "Jack explains the deep perils of not being the father that he should have been.  For better or worse, Billy always takes Jack's advice to heart."

Billy heads back to the hospital "to do the right thing--to own up and tell Cane the truth," insists Miller.  "But Cane, who's got this holier-than-thou complex, sees Billy is drunk and says he can't be near the baby.  What was to be a peaceful confrontation turns into a not-so-peaceful confrontation.  And Billy's hauled off by the neck by a 6-foot-7 orderly."

Billy returns to the bar to continue drowning his sorrows and runs into Sharon, who's doing the same.  "She's good and hammered," laughs Miller.  "Billy says, 'Why don't we commiserate here, and at the end of the day it will be like we never saw each other.'  So they share a few drinks and get loaded. It starts out totally innocent."

Then, "things get really crazy," teases Miller.  "Billy is trying to make up his mind.  What is he going to do about [Chloe and the baby]?  He needs to get out of this fog, and Sharon's cute.  It looks like there's going to be big trouble for little Billy."
