From the March 10, 2009 issue of Soap Opera Digest (p. 6):

Kay and Esther In Danger on Y&R

Things aren't looking so good for newlywed Esther:  First, she learns that her new hubby, Roger, is a con man.  She's then taken hostage along with Katherine.  "She sure can pick 'em," laughs her portrayer, Kate Linder.  "Just once I'd like to see her end up with someone who's a good person."

For the moment, Esther has a more pressing concern, namely escaping with Kay--who finally recognizes her longtime employee and loyal friend.  Clint forces Esther to write a letter to Chloe saying that she and Roger are on their honeymoon.  Meanwhile, Amber, Murphy and Kevin decipher the note that Kay had written and get the word "Clint."  Unfortunately, none of them knows who Clint is.

Clint is furious when he realizes that Esther only inherited half of Kay's estate and not her money.  "These people are nuts," points out Jeanne Cooper (Kay).  "She and Esther have to be very careful about how they handle themselves in this situation."  Kay suggests to Esther that she sell her portion of the mansion to Jill so she can get some cash, but Jill turns down Esther and Roger's offer.  Later, Amber talks to Clint, not realizing who he is.  But when Gina spies them together, she warns Amber that he's bad news.  Amber puts the pieces together and teams up with her pals to track down Kay.

When Clint returns to the hotel room where he's holding his hostages, Kay has more memories of him, including one of her late husband, Rex.  An unnerved Clint finally believes that his captive is, indeed, Kay.  "He's been thinking all this time that she's Marge and he can get rid of her, so this is very surprising to him," says Cooper.  "But she remembers things that only Kay would know.'

Armed with this new information, Clint has Esther deliver a ransom note to Jill.  However, Jill still thinks it's a con and refuses to hand over the money.  Afterward, Amber and Daniel track Clint to the hotel room where he's keeping Kay; panicked, he comes up with a drastic plan to get rid of his prisoners.  Meantime, Annie takes care of a nosy Kevin.

"They're in grave danger," shares Cooper of Kay and Esther's predicament.  "They're put in a situation that's going to be very difficult to get out of."

Hint:  The storyline takes an explosive turn....

I'm only typing the last portion of this article since the beginning portion of it has already aired...

From the March 16, 2009 issue of CBS Soaps In Depth (p. 29):

Do Or Die

... As Esther pleads with Jill, back in the motel, Clint is completely freaked out when Amber and Kevin come knocking at his door.  Annie answers the door and swears to the two wannabe sleuths that she's never seen Katherine.  Reluctantly, Amber and Kevin leave, missing the returning Esther, who once again comes back empty-handed.

"When Esther doesn't get the money, Clint decides it's time to dispose of us," teases Jeanne Cooper (Katherine), speaking in character.  "He says, 'We need to get rid of them.'  He knows he won't get any money now, and Esther knows that Roger is this freak-o.  Esther and Katherine can identify them, so consequently, the only way that they can get out of this mess is to do away with the two of them, because then they don't have as much chance to be caught."

Bombs Away!
"This whole situation gets too hot for Clint to handle," agrees Bell.  He decides it's time to take off, and to dispose of Katherine and Esther by planting an incendiary device in the room where they're tied up."

At the same time, Kevin recalls his and Amber's visit to the motel room the day before and remembers that the coat flung over the chair looked an awful lot like Katherine's.  Suspicious, Kevin returns to confront Clint but ends up on the floor unconscious, when Annie sneaks up behind him and injects him with a sedative!  However, Kevin's sudden appearance gives Clint a new idea--to frame the former arsonist/bad boy for the bomb that is ticking away at that very moment!

After dumping Kevin in a car trunk, Clint and crew make a fast exit.  "Mrs. Chancellor keeps saying, 'We're not done yet, Esther; we've come through a lot together; we're going to make it,' " chuckles Linder.  "But Esther is like, 'Oh my God!'  She's trying to believe her, but this is horrifying.  This is terrible!"

Indeed, fans had better brace themselves for what's coming up.  "There will be an explosion," promises Bell. "The big question is, will Katherine or Esther get out of this alive?"

From the March 17, 2009 issue of Soap Opera Digest (p. 13):

Y&R's Kay Says She's Marge

Katherine's identity saga takes another unexpected turn this week when she's knocked unconscious by an explosion near the hotel room where Clint was holding her prisoner.  Once she comes to, she's questioned by a doctor, but Kay--whose memory was already rattled after being in a car crash and then hitting her head on icy pavement--doesn't recall the blast.

At the hospital, Kay admits to a concerned Amber and Esther that she can't remember the past few months; Amber then fills her in on the Kay/Marge caper and how everyone believes that Kay's dead--and that she's an impostor.  "Amber has believed in her all this time and has been a true friend," says Jeanne Cooper (Kay).  "She's been very open-minded about this whole lost identity thing, which Kay appreciates."

Billy visits and is shocked when Kay knows who he is.  After speaking with her for a few minutes, he's convinced that the woman is, indeed, Mrs. Chancellor.  "It's been very interesting how everyone's reactions to seeing her have varied," notes Cooper.  "You have people like Amber and Kevin, who've been ready to believe she's who she says she is, but then there are people like Jill and Nikki, who haven't.  They've been much more cynical."

That said, Jill still thinks Kay is Marge, but Billy informs Jack that Kay is alive.  Back at the hospital, Kay tells Esther and Amber that she doesn't want to return to the Chancellor estate because she's afraid of hurting Jill.  They then learn that Kay's dental records are missing.  In order to get released, a desperate Kay lies that she's Marge--just as Billy returns with Jill.  "She feels terrible that Jill doesn't believe [she's Kay]," sighs Cooper.  "It's so complicated."

Amber vows to stand by Kay.  Meanwhile, Jill reveals to Nikki that the woman claiming to be Katherine finally 'fessed up to being Marge.  But while they're talking, Nikki receives a package containing Kay's emerald ring.  Later, Kay again approaches Nikki and recognizes the ring; she pleads with Nikki to hear her out and believe in her.  "Proving she's herself has been harder than she thought," laughs Cooper, "but it's been a lot of fun to play this storyline.  I never imagined that it would take so many twists.  I love it."
