(June 2009)

Thank you to Rose... this month's guest columnist!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good:  Hands down the best part of Y&R lately has been seeing familiar, old faces!  Handsome Raul stole the show with his charisma and strength of character, and I love curious Nina persistently digging into the past. True fans have been shocked and excited to see the face of long-dead Phillip Chancellor, III.  We’ve been treated to the presence of Brock and Todd, and it’s all been a wonderful tribute to the long history of Y&R!

The Bad:  If Y&R recognizes that fans love seeing familiar faces from the past, why don’t they bring back one of the actresses who formerly played the role of Mac???  I love bad boy, Billy Abbott; and I could totally believe him chasing after Ashley Bashioum, Rachel Kimsey or Kelly Kruger.

The Ugly:  The ugly seems to be anything Newman.  1.  Victor and Ashley are too old to be expecting babies.  It would be a much more believable storyline if Abby was pregnant, and Victor and Ashley were tearing their hair out over her actions.  Where is Abby anyway?  2.  The character of Adam is in ruins.  Adam is Hope’s son and an Ivy-League graduate.  It was interesting watching Adam compete with his half-siblings at NE.  Adam’s sick and twisted criminal status just does not fit with his background and is a waste of a fine character.  3.  Victoria is at least suspicious of her half-brother.  Give her some backbone and let her have a shouting match with Victor over Adam.  Who wants to see a Daddy’s little girl at her age?!  4.  Nick has turned back into a love-sick teenager with his mouth hanging open, a blank look on his face.  Give the poor guy some lines already!!!  5.  The Newman siblings as a group—wouldn’t it be fun to see them take over NE from dear, old daddy?!  It would certainly beat the current ugly storyline.
